The home at 1774 Tinsmith Circle in unassuming Lutz, FL, holds a special place in the heart of Tim Burton fans. Now available for $224,000, it was a filming location for the 1990 film “Edward Scissorhands.”

Geeky “Scissorhands” lovers (like me) will immediately recognize it as the home of the Boggs.

It’s where Edward, played by Johnny Depp, lived once he was found and, er … retrieved from his creator’s dilapidated mansion by Peg Boggs—a typical mom from the suburbs played by Diane Wiest.

Now that the home is up for sale, we sliced through the listing and the area to provide you with a few fun facts…

1. Lutz is the quintessential suburb

The tiny town is a mere 15 miles from Tampa, a bustling and growing city.

And when someone mentions “a typical suburb,” we’re pretty sure Lutz is the picture that pops up in that person’s mind.

This house was built in 1989 and was brand-new when it made its cinematic bow. It was literally the perfect place to film a textbook, suburban family three decades ago.

2. Pastel is out

In the movie, the homes throughout the neighborhood were painted in bright pastel colors, but that trend is long gone.

This photo gallery taken by a fellow “Scissorhands” fan shows that not a single homeowner on the block stuck with the cotton-candy shades popularized in the movie. Now, the neighborhood is filled with homes in more neutral tones.

3. Yes, that’s the backyard

Fans will undoubtedly remember the awkward barbecue scene from the movie, in which well-meaning neighbors made cringy scissor-related jokes, and many of the suburban moms take an unnatural liking to Edward.

That scene was indeed filmed in this backyard at 1774 Tinsmith Circle.

4. Trees. So many trees

Listing photos of the home show it shaded by a huge, mature oak tree. That tree and the rest of the trees in the neighborhood, Carpenters Run, are nowhere to be found in the movie. The community has come a long way in terms of foliage in the past three decades.

This home, movie notoriety and all, is pretty standard, which means affordable and accessible.

With three bedrooms and two bathrooms, it comes in at 1,432 square feet of living space.

Much of the home would benefit from a few updates, but it does have new flooring and a completely remodeled master bathroom. At the current price point of $224,000, it’s a pretty stellar option for a starter home in a nice neighborhood.
